New Orthopedic Residency Program Launching in El Paso by 2026

Texas Tech Health El Paso is set to introduce a new orthopedic surgery residency program starting July 1, 2026, which will train up to 15 residents by 2030. This initiative aims to reduce wait times for musculoskeletal care across the Borderplex, particularly benefiting UMC trauma bays. Each year, three residents will undergo training over a five-year period under the leadership of Dr. Rajiv Rajani. The program will focus on retaining graduates in the El Paso area to strengthen local orthopedic services. With nearly 200 applications already received, the program indicates strong community and professional backing, promising to enhance the quality of care for a diverse patient population.
