Juárez Reports Notable Drop in Homicides for 2025
The City of Juárez and the State of Chihuahua are experiencing a significant decline in homicides this year, with 1,814 reported homicides statewide, a decrease from over 2,000 in 2024. Juárez alone has seen 862 homicides, down from 1,105 last year. Assistant Police Chief Luis Ángel Aguirre Rodríguez attributes this reduction to improved community engagement, preventive strategies, and enhanced inter-agency coordination. The decrease marks a shift from a troubling trend of over 2,000 homicides annually since 2017, highlighting the effectiveness of ongoing safety initiatives.
