Police Fatally Shoot Man Wielding Knife in Alamogordo Incident

A tragic officer-involved shooting occurred in Alamogordo late last night, resulting in the death of 41-year-old Anthony Zane Blalock. Police responded to a reported burglary at around 11:42 p.m. and found Blalock in the backyard armed with a knife. Despite officers' orders to drop the weapon, Blalock advanced towards them, prompting the officers to fire their weapons. Emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene, while initial investigations indicated that Blalock had self-inflicted lacerations. The New Mexico State Police are currently investigating the incident and have not disclosed the officers' identities involved.
