Claudia Sheinbaum Promises Comprehensive Support for Train Accident Victims

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum announced on Tuesday that her government will provide comprehensive support to the victims and families affected by the train derailment in Oaxaca, which resulted in 13 fatalities and nearly 100 injuries. She confirmed that an initial compensation of 30,000 pesos (approximately $1,670) has been distributed to the families, with further reparations to be determined by the insurance and the Attorney General's Office. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the accident, which occurred on a key section of the Interoceanic Corridor designed to enhance connectivity between the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. Currently, 36 individuals remain hospitalized, receiving medical attention and support from the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS).
