Polestar Faces US Sales Ban Due to China Ties, Shifts Focus to Europe

Polestar, the electric vehicle manufacturer, has announced it will be banned from selling its cars in the United States starting with the 2027 model year due to its connections to China. The US Commerce Department's Bureau of Industry and Security denied the company authorization under the Connected Vehicle Rule, citing national security concerns. This rule specifically targets manufacturers owned or controlled by China or Russia, raising issues about data security and vehicle access. Although Polestar's vehicles are not produced in China, the company plans to redirect its sales efforts towards Europe, where it currently generates 80% of its revenue, while continuing to support existing customers in the US.
